I had to learn how to travel as I went along. Without any
previous experience or seasoned backpackers to talk to, I
found myself guessing a lot. Prior to leaving, I had searched
for backpacking books in stores, the library, and the Internet
and didn’t find any concise “how to” guides, even on how to
get started.

that you should take care of. Doing the work beforehand will
potentially save you from some problems and make your
journey safer and more enjoyable.

to do before you start your journey. Doing the work ahead of
